Holding wedding activities outdoors has taken off… and its not just the ceremony anymore! From cocktail hours with lawn games to receptions under the night sky, holding everything outdoors is getting so popular! Because of this, we’ve seen an increase in inquires about completely outdoor weddings. So I wanted to take a minute to talk about the option we can offer for outdoor receptions. With example pictures of course!
The outdoor option we offer is the use of our Memorial Terrace for both ceremony and reception. In order to facilitate this option, we require you to also rent our Patriots Room which is on the same level of the building as the terrace.
We require this for several reasons:
1) Rental of the terrace does not include access to bathrooms, catering kitchen, or a bridal suite. To ensure you have these amenities, you would rent the Patriots Room. This also secures the entire terrace level for your wedding’s use.
2) If we are going to flip the terrace from ceremony to reception site we will need somewhere for your guests to hang out while we do the transition. The Patriots Room provides the perfect place to hold cocktail hour during the transition. It is attached to the terrace and is easily handicap accessible… no changing of floors required!
3) You NEED a backup plan for an outdoor reception in Wisconsin. Wisconsin summer weather can fall on a large spectrum of temperatures and comfortableness– from 60 degrees and rainy to 75 degrees and perfect to 100 degrees and humid… we have it all! So having an indoor space with heat and A/C is an extremely valuable amenity.
How it works:
We set up for your ceremony on the terrace. Behind pipe and drape next to the terrace area, we have all your reception tables set up and ready to go. This allows you to decorate the tables prior to the ceremony and your caterers to put on place settings.
You have a beautiful outdoor ceremony…
After your ceremony everyone heads into the Patriots Room for cocktail hour…
Meanwhile, we transition the terrace into the reception space…
And then you have a beautiful outdoor reception with the Echo Lake Dam as a backdrop…
And don’t forget the sun sets right across the lake so you get a beautiful sunset view along with our custom color LED lights shining on the Echo Lake Dam.
We can do this option for a maximum of about 175 guests. The dancing portion of the evening can either be held out on the terrace or inside the Patriots Room.
If you have any questions about this option or would like to see the spaces in person, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Thanks to Brandon and Hilary Sieben for letting us use pictures from their beautiful wedding for this blog! And shout out to their photographer, Emily Frame of Heart Tree Photography, for helping to document this day so beautifully! (Some pictures are from Emily and some were taken by me!)
